Welcome, I’m glad you’re here. I’m Jan, I’ve been a dog owner all my life, with a passion for bringing out the very best in my own dogs. That passion eventually led me to train as a certified dog trainer, puppy specialist, Mantrailing Global Instructor, and Scurry Dog Instructor. Pups and Pooches Dog Training is based in Chester and serves Ellesmere Port, Warrington and North Wales, with Scurry Dog Classes based in Guilden Sutton, Chester & St Asaph.
After a rewarding career in nursing, I now feel truly at home — supporting dog owners like you to enjoy training and have fun with your dogs.
What makes my approach unique is the blend of compassion and a deep understanding of how both humans and dogs learn. This allows me to tailor training to the individual needs of every client and their dog. Whether you want a dog capable of competing in Scurry Dog Trials, able to respond to whistle cues, to stop, recall, hunt. change direction and long distance handling cue, or you want a well rounded pet dog, Pups and Pooches Dog Training offers it all.

🐶 Surry Dog is sport comprised of five games, each with five levels which provide ongoing challenge for you and your dog to grow skills together. Based on gun dog skills, Scurry Dog Foundation Skills develop useful skills including settle, stay stop & recall and fun skills, like distance control, retrieve and redirection.

You can run but you can’t hide! Well not for very long at least. Did you know that dogs have 300,000,000 scent receptors ready to sniff out your hiding place?
Mantrailing is a fun sport involving the use of your dog’s nose to locate the scent trail of the hidden person. Dogs not only love scent work , it is scientifically proven that scent work grows confidence and optimism whilst also providing mental stimulation. Watch your dog snooze soundly after a few hours of fun with you out in the fresh air.💤
